The SB is the most important design of the stock line. It combines the most popular aspects of typical custom orders for players looking for a highest quality bass without the need for more unique custom features. The singlecut design was created to be both beautiful and functional. The upper bout stretches to the 12th fret for good balance, while a generous lower horn allows for good clearance and comfortable leg resting. The stock model of this design features set-neck construction. The two variations of design are the SB and Soloist. The Soloist has two features that separate it from the SB. The shorter 33” scale length allows it to be used for either standard tuning or “High C” tuning. This refers, of course, to the tuning of E-A-D-G-C. This is an option that has grown in popularity through the last few years, as more players look for a bass that can offer the melodic possibilities of the high C string without the extra size and weight of a 6 string bass. The Soloist also features a slightly tighter string spacing at the bridge, for easier chordal playing. Each SB/Soloist bass built for stock will be a unique creation. The specs will be consistent, but wood choices and electronics will vary with each instrument.
