The Duality is a design based on a unique pickup created by Delano Pickup Systems. This is a MM shaped pickup that offers two distinctly different classic bass tones. Such a design allows for a bass to be built that can be effectively used for both modern slapping and traditional fingerstyle playing. The key features of the bass design focus on the 5 string version. A 35” scale is matched with a 24 fret fretboard; features not typically available in similar stock basses. The bass comes in two stock variations that offer distinctly different tones. The main difference is the type of body woods used. The standard design uses a solid two-piece black limba body. This yields a deep but clear tone. The second variation uses hard ash, with or without a separate facing. The density of the hard ash creates the ultimate situation for aggressive slap tone. This variation matches the ash with a wengee fretboard, for extra “growl”. The Delano Hybrid pickup is matched with the Delano Sonar preamp. This unique design has the feature of passive tone roll-off on the treble control. This allows for the “j” pickup setting to capture the traditional smooth funk tone that can only be captured with the passive tone. The preamp also has the active 3 Band EQ, for modern tonal sculpting.
