Triple Octave 4-String Bass
This bass is the most recent project for local legend Keith Foley. After 15 years of playing a 7-string fretless, he was ready to downsize and expand his creative possibilities. The design is a balance of form and function. There were two main functional aspects to work around. The first was the use of 4 de-tuners, which dramatically increases the size and weight of the headstock. The second was the three octave fretboard, which creates some challenges to achieve both accessibility and overall body shape for weight balance. The unique 3 dimensional inlay was achieved with natural wood colors, using maple, alder and ebony.
